NDIS-aligned →How NDIS funding works for personal training
Personal training isn’t a Core support, but it can be NDIS-funded when it’s linked to a Capacity Building goal. The two budget lines we most often work under are:
- Improved Health & Wellbeing: exercise, strength, and movement programmes designed by a qualified professional to manage the impact of disability and improve long-term health.
- Improved Daily Living: functional capacity work that translates into measurable independence in everyday tasks (transfers, walking, stairs, household activity).
You don’t need a referral. If you’re plan-managed or self-managed, you can engage us directly. We’ll send invoices clearly labelled to the right budget line and provide progress notes for plan reviews when you need them.
Who we work with
We support adults and young people across Melbourne living with a wide range of conditions, including:
- Cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury, and acquired brain injury
- Multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, and other neurological conditions
- Autism, intellectual disability, and developmental delay
- Mental health conditions where exercise is part of recovery
- Down syndrome, Fragile X, and other genetic conditions
If you’re not sure whether we’re the right fit, the easiest thing is a free 20-minute consult. No obligation, no out-of-pocket cost.
How a session works
- Free consult: we talk through your goals, your plan, and any medical considerations.
- Goal-setting: we set 2 to 3 specific outcomes tied to your NDIS plan and agree on a session frequency.
- Weekly sessions: in your home, a local park, or a partner gym across Melbourne. 45 to 60 minutes, fully supervised.
- 12-week review: we measure progress, document outcomes, and adjust your programme. Report provided for plan reviews on request.
Frequently asked questions
Is personal training covered by the NDIS?
Yes, when it’s linked to a Capacity Building goal. The most common budget lines are Improved Health & Wellbeing and Improved Daily Living. We’ll help you confirm which line applies to your plan before your first session.
Do I need to be plan-managed?
No. We work with both plan-managed and self-managed participants. Agency-managed (NDIA-managed) participants generally can’t use providers like us. Talk to your support coordinator about switching to plan-managed at your next review if you’d like to.
What suburbs do you service in Melbourne?
We cover all Melbourne metropolitan suburbs: north, south, east, west, and the inner city. We come to your home, a nearby park, or meet you at a partner gym. If you’re outside the metro area, get in touch and we’ll let you know if we can help.
How much does a session cost?
We charge in line with the current NDIS Pricing Arrangements for Capacity Building supports. When funding is in place there’s no out-of-pocket cost. We invoice your plan manager (or you, if self-managed) directly.
Do you provide reports for plan reviews?
Yes. We document goals, progress, and outcomes from day one. You can request a plan-review-ready progress report at any time. Usually one to two pages summarising the work and recommending next steps.
What qualifications do your trainers hold?
All trainers are nationally accredited (Certificate III & IV in Fitness as a minimum) with additional training in working with people with disability. We carry full insurance and complete NDIS Worker Screening Checks.
Can my support worker join the session?
Absolutely, and we encourage it. Support workers, carers, and family members are welcome to observe or take part, and we’ll happily share simple exercises you can do together between sessions.
